Fernando Viana
Director of Finance and Operations
Fernando brings an extensive background in finance to The Northwest School, and over a decade of experience in independent schools, both as a senior school administrator and as trustee and Treasurer/Chair of a board finance committee. Fernando holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in economics and politics and a Master of Arts in international relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Prior to his career in independent schools, Fernando worked in strategic financial advisory firms and held several senior roles in investment banking. He is drawn to Northwest’s global perspective, diverse and international community, urban engagement and - more than ever - valuing social justice and environmental sustainability in the everyday school life.Â
Born and raised in Portugal, and prior to moving to Seattle, Fernando lived in New York City and Mexico City. He is a New Yorker at heart and identifies more than anything else as an immigrant and member of the international community. Outside of his professional live, Fernando is a Northwest parent and an avid traveler.
